LABORATORY SCHEDULING GUIDE
Plan lab work with a clearer timeline.
Practical guide to planning lab experiments, culture timelines, equipment bookings, meetings and review days in one free research calendar.
The following is a fictional scheduling example, not a validated laboratory protocol. Follow the responsible researcher and your laboratory SOP for biological, chemical, instrument and safety decisions.
Start with dates you cannot move
Check equipment bookings, deadlines, recurring meetings, reagent arrival and sample availability before filling the calendar. Add preparation, instrument work, analysis and a contingency slot so competing tasks become visible earlier.
A four-step planning sequence
| Stage | Example event | Verify |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Start | Sample preparation | Experiment ID, owner, holidays |
| 2. Preparation | Instrument reservation | Dependencies and time needed |
| 3. Measurement | Analysis or observation | Operator and start time |
| 4. Review and buffer | Analysis, repeat slot | Deadline and changes |
Cell culture and equipment work use holidays differently
Culture activities scheduled from a biological starting date should not automatically move just because of a weekend. Other business-day workflows may skip specified holidays. Always verify the science and operator availability before confirming dates.
Keep each event recognizable
Record an experiment ID, condition identifier, instrument, owner and follow-up date where useful. Do not include patient data, unreleased confidential material or passwords.
Review the calendar without relying on it as an ELN
- Flag hard deadlines, bookings and required follow-up tasks
- Compare the daily, weekly and monthly views
- Check changes against the laboratory notebook and SOP
- Export a regular JSON backup of guest data
Frequently asked questions
Can I try it without creating an account?
Yes. Basic planning is free and guest events are stored in this browser.
Can I synchronize PC and phone?
Optional cloud sync is in limited email-authentication beta. General signup and unrestricted email delivery are not yet available, and backups are recommended.
Does it support team editing?
No. Shared editing, protocol verification and safety decisions are not supported.
